Munitoria Implosion
The remnants of Tshwane’s historic Muni-
toria Building, a 44-year-old building was
imploded to make way for new government
headquarters, to be known as Tshwane
House. The implosion was the city’s first in
14 years and one of the biggest in the city in
terms of mass.

(Angola)
The Baia de Luanda Project is located along
the Bay of Luanda (Angola) and a peninsula
known as the Ilha. VelaVKE was lead consul-
tant since the inception of the project in 2003.

WBHO commenced construction of Standard
Bank’s newRosebank offices in June 2010 and
achieved practical completion in May 2013.
The 65 000m

Project
Tweefontein Optimisation Project is located
25 kilometres south of Witbank, Mpuma-
langa and is an optimisation of existing
coal operations and reserves within the
Tweefontein Complex, which increases
capacity and extends the life of the existing
mining operations.

The 32 storey, 139 metre high Portside build-
ing, a joint venture between Old Mutual and
FirstRand Bank Limited, has rapidly ascended
to take on its rightful status as Cape Town’s
tallest building. Once complete in the first
quarter of 2014.

Fairscape Precint,
Gaborone (Botswana)
The project consists of an iconic 15 storey
tower building and two four storey build-
ings on a podium slab and three levels of
basement. The tower is designed to make
the most of the inner floor space, and, other
than the core and the façade perimeter, has
no internal columns.

(Namibia)
Namdeb has played a crucial part as contribu-
tor to the country’s socio-economic stability
and plans to do so for many years to come.
Tomeet the company’s objective of acquiring
maximum sustainability to 2050, Namdeb
needs to add the deposit at Sendelingsdrif.
