TURCK
brochure highlighting full line for Radio Frequency Identifica-
tion (RFID) is available. This brochure serves as an overview ofTURCK’s BL
ident system.TURCK’s broad line of on-machine, in-cabinet, modular and block
distributed I/O solutions simplify integration of RFID data and standard I/O into
programmable control systems, PC control, or Enterprise systems. This concise
piece of literature provides an overview of TURCK’s RFID system from the variety
of fieldbus interfaces, to the read/ write level and the data carrier or tag level.
TURCK’s BL ident system is a flexible RFID solution that can be applied to HF
or UHF applications, conforming to global standards for both HF (ISO15693) and
UHF (ISO1800-6C).The fieldbus interface options range from compact devices
for DIN-rail mounting, stand alone RFID as well as flexible gateways that can
handle up to a total 32 I/O cards per node, including up to 10 cards/ 20 channels
of RFID. In addition, programmable gateways that provide local or distributed
control are available for Ethernet, PROFIBUS, DeviceNet and CANopen networks.
RFID handheld and other accessories such as power supplies and fieldbus con-
nectivity are highlighted as well.

’s latest solution for wireless measurement data
transmission, the PLICSMOBILET61 is an external GSM/
GPRS radio unit for the transmission of measured values and
for remote parameter adjustment ofVEGA’s plics sensors. The
GSM/GPRS standard allows for worldwide use, with the user
selecting the network provider best suited for his operating
location. Some of the varied applications for the PLICSMO-
BILET61 are the measurement of deep wells, high containers,
river and sea levels, waste oil collection sites and material
recycling facilities and for measured value transmission with
mobile vessels.
The PLICSMOBILE T61 is particularly suitable for data ex-
change with the web-based visualisation softwareWEB-VV.
NowVEGA has advanced the development of the wireless data
transmission by adding an accumulator and solar panel for
the instrument. When the measuring of levels in remote or dif-
ficult to access areas is required, there is often a power supply
issue at stake as well. The high performance solar panels on
the PLICSMOBILET61 allow up to 24 measurements, includ-
ing data transfers, per day. The benefits to the user include
an autonomous power supply for the sensor and the radio
unit as well as simple data acquisition from widely scattered
measuring points. It is easy to install and there are no wiring
costs required to link up to an energy supply.

recently launched the new-
est Experion Virtualisation Solutions
package, the industry’s first turnkey blade
solution that is optimised for virtualisation
and the needs of the process control industry
enabling offshore oil and gas, refining and
petrochemical customers to increase opera-
tions availability and reduce the total cost of
ownership of their control system, saving
them millions of dollars annually.
By applying virtualisation to industrial
control systems - a concept first introduced
by Honeywell in 2010 – processing plants
and refineries can simplify their comput-
ing environments, streamline maintenance
and reliability, and reduce the amount of
hardware space needed at facilities such
as floating offshore oil rigs, where space is
at a premium. Virtualisation is a major pro-
ductivity and efficiency tool for commercial
and industrial operations. Process controls
typically require separate servers to support
different applications – requiring additional
space, hardware and significant maintenance
costs. Virtualisation allows a single server
to simultaneously run multiple operating
systems and applications, insulating the
operating systems from hardware changes,
improving overall server utilisation, simplify-
ing maintenance and reducing costs.
The newest member of the Experion
Virtualisation family, called the Premium
Platform, is based on blade server technol-
ogy. It provides an alternate offering for the
ultimate in lifecycle and availability features
being demanded by the process industry. The
Premium Platform reduces setup time by 90
percent, generates 40% more energy sav-
ings, has 22% greater density than alterna-
tive virtualised server platforms and allows
recovery from a processor failure inminutes.
“Customers are demanding higher avail-
ability from their virtual environments, said
Jason Urso, vice president of technology,
Honeywell Process Solutions. “Virtualisation
solutions using blade servers offer that extra
layer of reliability, but it’s about more than
just reducing downtime: virtualisation sim-
plifies operations and allows manufacturers
to modernise their facilities and turn them
into true business assets.”
