The SensorLex 8B line of isolated analogue signal
conditioners from Dataforth provides reliable signal
conditioning, filtering and isolation for all industrial
applications.
The 8B family offers 123 models that interface to a
wide variety of voltage, current, temperature, position,
frequency, and strain measuring devices. Housed in a
package only one-fifth the size of competing products,
the 8B offers superior specifications such as ±0,05%
accuracy, ±0,02% linearity, 5-pole filtering, 1 500 Vrms
isolation, and low output noise. Each 8B module pro-
vides one channel of input protection, noise filters,
2-way isolation, amplification and linearisation to ensure
signal integrity.
Built on nearly 30 years of design experience, the
8B module is housed in a rugged, fully potted case
that withstands the most severe environments, such
as mining and earth moving equipment,
industrial furnace monitoring, and aircraft
manufacturing. "Customers love the 8Bmodules
because they simply don't fail," says George
Chapman, head of marketing and sales for
Elexsys
. "These small, low-cost modules have
been out in the field for over ten years, and
they remain as reliable as ever."The 8B family offers
versatile connection options, and back panels are
available for 2, 4, 8, or 16-channel
as well as DIN rail 'carrier' mount-
ing for each individual 8B module,
making the 8B family ideal for any
automation or industrial monitoring
application.

CONTROL SYSTEMS + AUTOMATION
I/O signals from
Phoenix Contact
’s
Radioline systems can now be con-
nected directly to control units via
the Modbus RTU protocol.
For this, the radio master
wirelessly collects I/O signals
from up to 250 radio stations
and maps these to a centrally
located Modbus register. This
means that the entire radio net-
work can be addressed via one
single Modbus
slave address.
Communica-
tion with the
control unit
is provided via an RS-232 or RS-485 interface.
Remote field stations can be expanded in a
modular fashion and individually grouped to
facilitate any application scenario. A range of
digital and analogue I/O modules is offered
for this; these can process signals up to 230
V. The radio communication itself is handled
via Phoenix Contact’s Trusted Wireless 2.0
radio technology, which ensures reliable
transmission even in challenging industrial
environments.
The entire system can be configured very
easily via rotary switches, except for the radio
master’s serial parameters, which are set up
using free-of-charge software.

TwinCAT KinematicTransformation enables
machine manufacturers and users to control
robots and their own kinematic construc-
tions directly from within theTwinCAT soft-
ware platform.This function has
been further developed so that
also highly complex kinematics
can be implemented. TwinCAT
Kinematic Transformation of-
fers numerous kinematics that
are divided into three differ-
ent product levels, depend-
ing on their complexity. These
include 2-D, shear, 3-D delta
and SCARA kinematics. The
new Level 4 version represents
a consistent extension of the
range of functions, now also allowing more
complex kinematics to be implemented.
Examples are serial 6-axis kinematics and
the Steward platform.
TwinCAT performs the set value generation
and necessary kinematic transformations.
The set values for the axes are cyclically
transferred via EtherCAT to the drive am-
plifier, eg an AX5000 servo drive. The robot
movements are programmed directly from
the PLC. Path movements for the following
of contours can, of course, also be imple-
mented withTwinCAT NC I according to DIN
66025.WithTwinCAT KinematicTransforma-
tion an additional robot controller and thus
the learning of a special robot programming
language is not required. Accordingly, the
entire machine can be operated with just
one control CPU.
