Air conditioners for all seasons
Samsung Electronics South Africa’s range of
innovative air conditioners provide consumers
with benefits all year round and should not just
be viewed as an investment for summer months.
“As soon as the winter chill sets in, people dust
off their gas and oil heaters from storage and
utilise these for keeping the cold at bay, yet, air
conditioners are one of the most energy efficient
means of heating any indoor environment,”
says Michael McKechnie, business leader for
Digital Air Solutions at Samsung Electronics
South Africa.
Samsung air-conditioners with Smart In-
verter technology not only use less power than
conventional models, but have also earned the
best Energy Efficiency Rating of up to 5,2. This
means that the units reach the desired tem-
perature setting faster than non-inverter models.
Additionally, the air conditioning units adjust to
maintain a constant temperature and ensure
total comfort in home or office environments.
What’s more, air-conditioners are not only
ideal for regulating room temperature, but can
clear the air of any impurities. “If you have
allergies or asthma, you already know how im-
portant clean air is to your well-being. Allergens,
viruses, and infectious bacteria are often present
and undetected. With the Samsung range of
air conditioners, you no longer require a stand-
alone purifier to improve indoor air quality. The
same device that keeps you at a comfortable
temperature, can also filter and clean the air
you breathe,” adds McKechnie.
Samsung air conditioners feature auto
cleaning, which automatically runs the fan
after the unit has been turned off, keeping the
conditioned space dry and odour-free while
preventing germs from spreading.
Featured on a variety models, Samsung S-
Plasma ion technology takes air purification a
step further. Unlike conventional passive filters,
S-Plasma ion sends out hydrogen atoms and
oxygen ions to scour the room. These particles
are harmless to people and pets, but fatal
to influenza viruses, fungi, bacteria, allergen
particles, and other impurities. The result is a
strong sterilising effect.
“So next time you think an air-conditioner is
only there to keep you cool, think again. There
are many more cost and health benefits than
you might realise – all year round,” concludes
McKechnie.
Centurion-based Pro Hire Plant and
Tool has chosen to invest in Wacker
Neuson 701S skid steer loader for its
vehicle fleet. “Our relationship with
Wacker Neuson stretches back twelve
years, long before the introduction of
Compact Equipment into the Wacker
Neuson lineup.
Their products have always been at
the leading edge of the market, and we
have built up a really solid relationship
over the years,” says Brandon Dunck-
ers, managing director of Pro Hire Plant
and Tool.
Pro Hire Plant and Tool has evolved
over the years, and now not only sup-
plies smaller construction equipment,
but also the full range of ride-on rollers
fromWacker Neuson, including the high
performance RD27 ride-on compaction
rollers. “We are very pleased to now
have the 701S in our contracting tool-
box,” Dunckers adds.
The 701S skid steer loader comple-
ments Wacker Neuson’s comprehensive
range of compact equipment, including
excavators, dumpers, tele-handlers and
wheel loaders which will be showcased
MBE Minerals has supplied two vibrator
motor powered 1,8 m by 4,5 m single
deck horizontal coal discard washing
screens to a coal mining operation in
Mpumalanga.
The company has supplied screens
with side plate mounted drives to this
mine for nearly four decades. Graham
Standers, MBE Minerals’ sales manag-
er: vibrating equipment, says the mine
recently had an additional requirement
for vibrator motor driven screens at one
of its operations.
“This is the first time we’ve supplied
the mine with motor driven screens,
which have become one of our standard
screen designs,” Standers comments.
“These units are fitted with 10 kW vi-
brating motors. They are maintenance
friendly and make for reduced downtime
to conduct drive replacements. One of our
screen experts regularly visits the mine
sites to monitor performance and advises
on optimisation and maintenance.
“This order strengthens our installed
base in the Central Basin coalfields and
broadens the range of standard screens
we’re bringing into this market.”

company’s screens have been operat-
ing within the African mining industry
for the past 40 years, primarily in the
coal, diamond and iron ore sectors.

mechanical features including vibration
damping, side plates, cross members
and the appropriate feed and discharge
chutes. All types of screening surfaces
can be accommodated.
“With more than 400 vibrating
screens in operation in South Africa
alone we’re able to assess and provide
the competent expertise and know-how
in specifying and installing the correct
screen for any process application,”
concludes Standers.
