Finland, Turkey and the UK, among others – and she
notes that the German pavilion will rank as the big-

including a half-day seminar entitled ‘Mining Insight:
The Industry Explained’ which will be held on 18
September. It will be presented by Dr Chris Hinde,
the Editorial Director of IntierraRMG (a global infor-
mation provider on mining business intelligence) and
will provide a comprehensive and straightforward
explanation of how the global mining industry works.
Hinde is a well-known figure in mining circles, hav-
ing spent 27 years as Editor of
Mining Journal
. He has
a BSc in Mining Engineering from the University of
Wales and a PhD in rock mechanics. His mining ex-
perience includes working with consultants SRK and
Golder Associates and underground mining with An-
glo American.
While bauma in Germany – which is held over
seven days – typically attracts over half a million
visitors, the target for bauma Africa is, as one would
expect, far more modest. Says Crewe: “We are hoping
