Goodyear
®
Engineered Products, manufac-
tured and sourced exclusively by Veyance
Technologies Inc, has launched a new con-
veyor belt ConquestXP™.
The belt was developed using computer
modelling and finite element analysis (FEA)
software and incorporates Fortress™ tech-
nology which makes it extremely resistant to
punctures and impact.
Goodyear

Engineered Products’ ad-
vanced technology offer various cover com-
pounds which offer enhanced protection for
unique applications. The abrasion covers
available are ‘M’ Grade, which provides supe-
rior resistance to cutting, tearing gouging and
abrasion in the harshest environments and is
suitable for conveying ores of all kinds, gran-
ite, quartzite and other heavy sharp-edged
materials; and ‘N’ Grade, which is recom-
mended for conveying slag, limestone, ce-
ment, rock, iron ore, coal and other materials
where metal is present.

A fire retardant cover compound available
is F+ which is said to be ideal for coal car-
rying services where plied or steel cord con-
structions are utilised, and has fire retardant
properties.
“Also unique to ConquestXP™ is
SHIELD™, which is a fire-retardant
runner compound with a low smoke
density and reduced toxic gas emis-
sions. In case of a fire, this will result
in improved visibility and lower toxic
fume levels, making it ideal for underground
mining applications,” explains Craig Rouha-
na, Sales and Marketing director of Veyance
Technologies South Africa.
ConquestXP™ forms part of the textile re-
inforced belt range, ensuring extreme dura-
bility, and is designed for primary crushers,
secondary crushers, mainlines, pit belts, re-
fuse and recycling, log debarkers and other
high-abuse applications.

The innovative features of the powerful yet
economical Wacker Neuson 1245 and 2506
telescopic handlers are claimed to provide
users with significant savings in cycle times,
and therefore in operating costs.
“The compact design of the Wacker Neu-
son 1245 telescopic handler allows for ef-
fortless manoeuvrability, especially in small
spaces,” says Eugene Brown, MD of Wacker
Neuson in South Africa. “Also, with its light
weight, it is the perfect choice for customers
who need to work on fresh concrete decks,
where the payload requirements rule out the
use of skid steer loaders.
“Operation, even for a novice, is easy, un-
complicated and safe, thanks to our Vertical Lift
System, which makes continual pallet place-
ment a pleasure for operators. By keeping the
pallet level, so much stress is removed from
the operator. No job is too tough for this com-
pact telescopic handler. The powerful 4-wheel
drive system, very low transport weight and

impressive digging performance are amongst
the stand out features our customers are ask-
ing for. Although the 1245 is a small machine, it
boasts an impressive payload of 1 200 kg at a
maximum lifting height of 4 300 mm.”
Moving to the Wacker Neuson compact
2506 telehandler, Brown says it is a robustly
built unit in the 6 m lifting height class which
offers the market a really innovative lift arm
control system, super tough monocoque
chassis and low transport weight.
“With a height and width of less than 2 m,
and high ground clearance, the 2506 can go
where normal wider and higher machines
cannot go,“ explains Brown.
“The robust, twist-resistant frame allows
for precision manoeuvrability without ma-
chine or product damage,” he continues.
“The machine’s powerful hydraulic system is
coupled with an intuitive and precise joystick
for boom control, and this is all made eas-
ily available to the operator through Wacker

sampling
and sample preparation equipment, is pre-
paring one of the biggest orders the com-
pany has received in recent months – a highly
efficient crushing and sampling system for a
gold mine in Russia.
“We’re working closely with the FLSmidth
team in Perth, Australia on this order that re-
quires a 750 kg ore sample to be crushed to
smaller than 2 mm particles in less than an
hour,” says Jan du Plessis of Labtech Africa.
“After crushing and splitting, a 2 kg sample of
this crushed ore will be sent to a laboratory for
analysis. The order includes five jaw crush-
ers, five conveyors, two bins, one rotary pipe
improved bearing and impact resistance to
sustain high-abuse applications. The dual
layer twill fabric delivers high transverse
tear strength, which minimises tears causing
material punctures. Other features include a
superior rip resistance, which helps dislodge
and expel foreign objects.

With no input from the operator, and with
the machine in Bucket Mode, the boom is au-
tomatically retracted as it is lowered, thereby
continually keeping the machine within its
safe working zone, allowing the bucket to
lower almost vertically, while the boom is si-
multaneously retracted.

The Essa
®
product line, acquired by
FLSmidth in 2011, is a leading range of auto-
mated mineral sampling and sample prepa-
ration systems offering bulk material quality
and process control technologies. Labtech
Africa supports this range by importing and
exporting sampling and laboratory equip-
ment, as well as installing and commission-
ing new equipment and providing after-sales
service.
“Our company supplies Essa
®
equipment
to the mining, exploration and associated
service industries and the needs of these cus-
tomers vary along different points of the min-
ing cycle from exploration, mining and crush-
ing, through to stockpiling and shipment,”
says du Plessis. “We’ve maintained growth
and market share by being active across a
wide range of mineral commodities including
gold, lead, iron ore, nickel, aluminium, copper,
coal, platinum, zinc and silver. As a result, we
have business in all the major mining regions
on the continent including the Sudan, Ghana,
Zambia, Tanzania, Botswana, Guinea, South
Africa, Madagascar, the DRC and Zimbabwe.”
