their own maintenance and are able to
concentrate on their core business which is
transport.
Plans are also in the pipeline to provide
servicing on trailers as part of the
maintenance package - an added solution
to customers.
The recruitment of technical staff is high on
the priority list at Scania and the facilities
which have been established at the Scania
Training Academy ensure that the skills
levels are maintained over the whole of
the Scania organisation. The Academy not
only trains technicians but also provides
commercial and professional training to
Scania personnel and trains drivers for
Scania customers across the sub-continent.
The Academy is fully accredited to Merseta
and TETA and a full training report is
required to be submitted on a regular basis
to these organisations.
The Scania Used Truck centre facility forms
an integral part of the overall plan to ensure
that used Scanias are ‘recycled’ with their
full service history intact. Scania South Africa
was the first distributor outside Europe to
launch this Scania concept to customers on
the African sub-continent where it identified
a growing market across the region for used
6x4 vehicles. The advantage in purchasing
a used Scania is that it comes with a six
month/100 000 km warranty and optional
insurance, maintenance and financial
packages to suit.
Scania Rental offers a wide range of
Scania vehicles to virtually every possible
specification depending on the client’s
need. This is an ideal concept for clients
who experience peak periods and require
additional vehicles over the short term. Also
renting a vehicle allows prospective clients
to evaluate the full benefits of the Scania
transport solutions.
Scania, has in the last few years increased
its model range considerably as they achieve
success in new markets. The introduction of
a dedicated mining sales division at Scania
has opened up new opportunities for heavy
duty on/off road vehicles.
Further to this Scania has recently
introduced in a new range of off-road trucks
based on the spacious G – Series. The new
trucks are loaded with sturdy features that
enable them to take on the most rugged
and unforgiving environmental conditions.
The new frontal styling is totally functional,
encompassing a robust design to enable
the vulnerable components to be protected
in extreme conditions.
The new trucks will benefit from all the
improvements, new features and functions
which have been already introduced in
other models, such as Scania Opticruise
with off-road mode, new traction control
features and the new Scania retarder
with enhanced low speed performance
as well as new chassis developed for this
type of application. The introduction of
the Streamline Series in 2013 provided a
further added value solution to the transport
industry. The new Streamline has already
established an excellent following. The
balance of power and economy has placed
this vehicle in an enviable position in the
market especially with the fuel saving
benefits which operators are experiencing.
Tied in with the overall benefits of the
Scania transport solutions is the vehicle
funding which can be the major factor
in the success of any company, Scania
Finance offers attractive financing solutions
for new and used vehicles, buses, trailers
and ancillary equipment. These can be
integrated with the full range of Scania
Insurance, Repair and maintenance, Scania
Assistance and other client requirements.
Scania trucks are manufactured to the
highest standard of quality with innovative
designs based on in depth market research.
Their fuel economy and uptime have become
a benchmark in the industry. Combined with
the state-of-the-art facilities to provide
the backing, Scania pride themselves on
providing the most economical vehicle with
the lowest operating costs.
