The cement silo (at the back) a silo for ash (in the front).
All equipment is representative of high ef-
ficiency and reduced power consumption
technology, with high regard for environmen-
tal control throughout the design,”he says.
Turnkey projectmilestones reached todate
include completion of the 30 000 ton clinker
silo and the silo roof space frame, as well as
installation of gantry structures with sheeting,
cabling and lighting. The gypsum store space
frame and sheeting is finished, as is assembly
and installation of the Stacker.“Assembly and
installation of the Loesche Cement Mill and
Classifier, which is the heart of the plant, is 90%
also complete. In addition, electrical cabling
throughout the plant is well advanced and
proceeding as planned,”he explains.
Addressing fly ash storage and dosing at
Delmas, he reports that the blowers and com-
pressors at the offloading structure have been
installed, aswell as the extraction system, aera-
tion and air slides inside the silos. With regard
to non-turnkey projects, a major milestone
has been achieved with the finalisation of the
Sephaku electrical switch yard, whichhas been
energised and the cables installed from the
switch yard to the Sephaku main substation.
The space frame structure for the packing
warehouse has been built at the Delmas plant.
This, De Beer notes is an impressive structure,
being similar to the airport roof structure
in Beijing. “The sheeting, which shows the
size of the warehouse, is almost done. The
Packing Plant building sheeting is also com-
pleted,” he says. Non-production buildings in
progress include a clinic, fire station, gasoline
station, administration building, canteen and
guard house.
Shifting focus to construction of Sephaku
Cement’s flagship plant in Lichtenburg,
Aganang, De Beer says that progress is
ongoing. A recent highlight for the company
was the turning of the kiln for the first time
through the drive unit. To date at Aganang
