The new STIHL TS 500i cut offmachine has been in significant demand
since its launch earlier this year and STIHL MD, Hayden Hutton, says
he is not surprised.
equipment
“THE TS 500I IS ONE
of the most advanced
and revolutionary cutting machines ever
produced. Its fully automatic engine tuning
with STIHL-designed electronically controlled
fuel injection – a world first for a hand-held
machine – guarantees optimal output at all
times and for all tasks. This machine doesn’t
just set new standards in engine technology,
it is the new standard,”Hutton says.
He adds that the net result of the ground-
breaking technology advances in the TS 500i
is a machine that is indispensable for anyone
in construction. “For building, engineering
work, road construction or landscaping, the
power and ease of operation of the STIHL
TS 500i makes light of heavy work as never
before. Cutting easily through concrete and
natural stone, steel beams, pipes or asphalt
components this amazing tool can conquer
almost any cutting task,”he says.
One of the prime aims in STIHL technol-
ogy is to make machines as user friendly as
possible and theTS 500i certainly fits into this
category. The STIHL Injection system does
away with the need for a choke and a starting
throttle position. Thanks to automatic cold/
hot detection, only one starting position is
needed. This intelligent detection system
uses data like external temperature, altitude
and fuel grade to automatically calculate
the quantity of fuel needed when starting
making starting easier than ever. The opera-
tor simply moves the start switch from 0 to
I, purges, and starts the engine – there is no
chance of operator error.
Also, the STIHLTS 500i is one of the easiest
cuttingmachines to operate.The high torque
over a wide engine speed range makes it
insensitive to feed pressure. It therefore pulls
steadily andproduces an even cut.The special
top handle facilitates control during cuts that
require a high level of precision.
The absence of a carburettor makes the
STIHLTS 500i a lightweightmachinedesigned
for tough demands. In addition the TS 500i
features STIHL’s world-renowned anti vibra-
tion systemwhere the pistondesign has been
simplified resulting in less oscillatingmass in
the cylinder and decreased engine vibration.
The proven spring elements also reduce the
transmissionof engine vibrations to the user's
hands and arms.
Finally, with STIHL’s MDG 1 engine diag-
nosis unit, servicing is more efficient than
ever. All one needs to do is connect the
MDG 1 to the cut off machine for the elec-
tronic components to be checked and for
themachine’smemory to be read. In this way,
even occasional irregularities can be picked
up and dealt with before they develop into
component failure ensuringoptimal servicing
and longevity.
THIS ALLOWS USERS
to optimally adapt
the mixing tool speed to each different
product, which offers wide control over
the power input into the mixer.
Additionally, Eirich has developed
unique software that allows users to cap-
ture data and control the process more
effectively – ultimately increasing produc-
tivity and efficiency in the mixing process.
The new Eirich R01 laboratory mixer,
which is designed to be used with either
a 1-litre or 5-litre pan, is rounded off
with a flexible integrated control system.
This flexible control system includes fre-
quency converters for driving the rotor
tool and the mixing pan; PLC process con-
trol with a Profibus DP interface integrated
in the machine frame; a fully-graphic
touch panel for controlling and
monitoring, as well as a dis-
play for all current data
and information such as
rotating speed, power,
torque and temperature.
Additionally, the new
Eirich R01 laboratory mixer also
offers a compatible laboratory
PC as an operating terminal, that
includes a comprehensive software
package. This software package
provides users with a unique mixer-
specific process visualisation, freely
configurable mixing processes and man-
agement of recipe andmixing instructions.
This laboratory monitoring software
is ideal for high-end applications as
it records and evaluates all measured
values for the selected batches and the
software includes a data export function
for further processing.
The Eirich mixing principle is not only
completely unique and unmatched
by any competitor in the world,
but it is also available in exactly
the same way on laboratory
mixers as it is on production-
scale machines.
New cutting tool
“This state-of-the-art cutting tool really
shows its strengthswhenworking in confined
conditions thanks to its compact footprint
and excellent power-to-weight ratio. In
short, it enables precision control, leaving the
operator free to concentrate fully on the job
at hand,”Hutton concludes.
The new STIHL TS 500i cut off machine cuts easily
through concrete and natural stone, steel beams,
pipes or asphalt components.
New laboratory mixer with integrated control
Trials and tests at laboratory level are an integral part of the development
of new products and the refinement of existing products. Satisfying
the need for data capturing and control of the mixing process as
needed in laboratories, Eirich has developed the new R01 laboratory
mixer with integrated control technology.

is ideal for data captur-
ing and control of the
mixing process.
