The One, Stellenbosch, a luxury student accommodation development designed by Boogertman + Partners, has been named Best Architecture – Multiple Residence (Africa) at the International Property Awards (IPA), announced at an awards ceremony in London on Friday, 16 January.

Boogertman Partners wins top honours in Africa at International Property Awards

Last year, The One, Stellenbosch received a five-star award for Best Architecture – Multiple Residence (South Africa) at the African Property Awards, securing top honours in its category and earning nomination for the regional title at the International Property Awards. The regional award represents the highest recognition in Africa within this category.

The International Property Awards have been running for 33 years and are recognised as a global benchmark of excellence in the property sector. The programme honours outstanding residential and commercial projects and the professionals behind them across more than 50 categories worldwide. Entries are assessed by an independent panel of industry specialists.

Boogertman + Partners director André Wright attended the ceremony at The Savoy Hotel in London to accept the award.

“I would like to congratulate the Boogertman + Partners team who conceptualised and delivered this project,” said Wright. “I also extend my thanks to our clients and development partners for their vision in recognising the role that high-quality student residential developments can play as catalysts for broader urban regeneration.”

The One illustrates the capacity of a single development to respond to housing demand while contributing meaningfully to wider urban regeneration. More than a residential project, it is a connected, mixed-use intervention that integrates architecture, placemaking and strategic infrastructure investment to revitalise its surrounding precinct, while providing premium accommodation with a focus on safety, support and wellbeing, achieved through a holistic approach to the social, physical and academic needs of students.

This award is the culmination of a remarkable year, in which The One received several other prestigious accolades, including a SAPOA Award, a Big 5 Award and a Construction World Best Projects award. These awards recognise Boogertman + Partners’ leadership in human-centred, contextually driven and innovative design that strives to benefit as many people as possible.
