The National Association of Automotive Component and Allied Manufacturers (NAACAM) will host the third NAACAM Show next year.

Renai Moothilal, NAACAM Executive Director and Goodrich Kowane, NAACAM Gauteng regional Chairman.

Set to take place at the Sun Bet Arena at Time Square Casino, in Pretoria, it’s the first time the show will take place in the economic heartland of South Africa.

The partnership with the Tshwane Economic Development Agency (TEDA), a municipal entity of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality (CoT) ensured the show’s rebirth. The last NAACAM Show was held in 2019, with a decision not to host the 2021 version due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

NAACAM is recognised as the voice of the South African automotive component industry and is at the forefront of industry leadership, representation, and stakeholder engagement for automotive component manufacturers.

Anchoring NAACAM’s membership base are component suppliers to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for assembly in South Africa, as well to OEM export markets and the domestic and global aftermarket.

The partnership with TEDA in 2023 is strategic. TEDA’s objective is to cultivate an environment within which the City of Tshwane can grow its human capital and economy through the facilitation, implementation, and management of developments with a specific focus on economic development and investment attraction into the greater Tshwane area. Growth and expansion of the automotive sector is a strategic priority for TEDA, as four OEMs are located in the City, which is responsible for 45% of South Africa’s vehicle exports.

The automotive sector is expected to gain further momentum in Gauteng, with the establishment of the Tshwane Automotive City (TAC). It will serve as an ‘ignition’ project for an integrated logistics framework, focusing on inland ports and manufacturing hubs linked to rail corridors that links Tshwane with strategic ports in South Africa and the Southern African Development Community. The infrastructure development and multi-mode linkages will create a transport corridor that will position the City of Tshwane as an automotive trade and investment gateway for Africa.”

Renai Moothilal, NAACAM’s Executive Director was encouraged by the partnership with TEDA. “The NAACAM Show was the ‘first of its kind’ when it launched in 2017 and convened key stakeholders in the South African automotive manufacturing sector in an events platform dedicated to facilitating localisation, trade, and transformation in South Africa’s highly diverse OEM value chains”.

Further details on the next NAACAM Show will be released early 2023
