Pulane Thobejane, current Chairperson of the Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA), is more than a leader in governance—she is a passionate social activist, a dedicated social worker in private practice, and a specialist wellness counsellor. Her career and activism are grounded in advocating for the humanities, with a firm belief that housing is one of the fundamental pillars of human rights, securing dignity and restoring hope for the people of Mzansi.
Since assuming leadership at SHRA, Pulane has been at the forefront of driving accountability, transformation, and growth. Under her stewardship, SHRA improved its performance from 64% to an impressive 83%, reflecting her ability to align governance structures with the entity’s vision and public service mandate.
One of the defining milestones of her tenure has been guiding SHRA to achieve two consecutive clean audits since its inception significant mark of transparent governance, sound financial management, and operational credibility.
Beyond her boardroom leadership, Pulane’s social activism reflects her lifelong commitment to human dignity. Through her work as a specialist wellness counsellor and her private practice in social work, she continues to empower individuals and communities with holistic approaches to well-being.
