EandC April 2016If we were able to apply all the solutions that appear in Electricity+Control to our South African cities, towns and ‘dorpies’… what a magnificent country this would be. In the April issue alone… we are told that comprehensive, reliable energy data on energy consumption is the foundation to realising a ‘smart city’.

 

Prevention of corrosion in earthing and lightning protection systems would make areas safer and smarter for living and working. The worrying water situation in the country, if addressed by the experts, would result in effective water management. We cover pneumatic energy saving solutions as well as the radar sensor that measures liquids with high frequency technology. More interest lies in earth/ground principles and safety and principle testing methods… and the benefits of smart networks particularly in relation to streetlighting. And while the concept of solar roads may be new to many… they are currently in operation in some parts of the world… the ‘smart’ parts.
