Higher performance, connectivity, metering and protection up to 1 600 A are key features of the newly launched SACE Tmax XT, which extends ABB’s range of moulded case circuit breakers (MCCBs). The MCCB range has been designed to maximise ease of use, integration and connectivity, and is built to deliver safety, reliability and quality. The range offers thermomagnetic, electronic, and Display/Touch trip unit technology.

Industry-leading electrical and mechanical characteristics are built into the new Tmax XT MCCBs.
Simplified installation increases user-friendliness, frames are streamlined to save space, and improved connectivity such as Bluetooth and Ekip Connect all save time. Another benefit is reliable cloud connectivity and the overall increase in information available, which supports improved diagnostics and maintenance to reduce downtime.
Veron Maharaj, Product Marketing Specialist, Low Voltage Circuit Breakers at ABB adds, “We have overhauled our selection and ordering process to make it much easier for customers to procure the parts they need, speeding things up by about 30%.”
Tmax XT replaces ABB’s current range of MCCBs (Tmax T). The new product line provides electrical protection capabilities for current up to 1 600 A, 690 V ac. It complements the Low Voltage (LV) circuit breaker range from ABB – its Air Circuit Breakers (ACBs), which covers current rating from 6 300 A down to 1 600 A, 690 V ac – thereafter supported by the Tmax XT MCCB range.
Industry-leading electrical and mechanical characteristics are incorporated into the design of the new Tmax XT range. The shift to digitisation and IoT has also influenced major changes in terms of connectivity. The ABB MCCB range now supports the main industrial communications protocols such as Modbus, Profibus and DeviceNet™, as well as Modbus TCP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP and IEC61850.
Combined with the most precise electronic trip units in the smallest frames, the new range protects plant and ensures continuity of service. With the Tmax XT series, ABB continues to develop its offering, building on the success of the innovative Emax 2, the industry’s first smart air circuit breaker. SACE Tmax XT sets new standards for plant and energy management. The XT family’s built-in connectivity links smartphones, tablets and PCs to data analysis tools on the ABB Ability™ cloud platform in real time.
