Sungrow, a global leader in solar inverters and energy storage systems, recently unveiled its latest commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage solutions at its first C&I Summit staged in Johannesburg, South Africa, an event that brought together more than 200 industry leaders, partners, and energy experts to explore next-generation technologies and the evolving needs of businesses across the country.

New energy storage solutions for the CI market

Sungrow has launched new solutions providing leading edge energy storage options for diverse business needs.

Businesses in the region are increasingly prioritising smarter and more resilient power strategies. With the launch of new solutions such as the ST255CS and SH125CX, Sungrow is enabling companies to optimise energy use, enhance operational stability, and scale their systems with improved flexibility. Such upgrades allow commercial users to take greater control of their power infrastructure with simplified system management.

With many parts of South Africa averaging over 2 500 hours of sunshine per year, the combination of solar power and energy storage continues to prove a practical and cost-efficient path for companies seeking a consistent energy supply and long-term sustainability. This trend has created growing demand for storage systems that are reliable and adaptable to diverse operational conditions.

At the summit, Sungrow introduced the new products in its strengthened portfolio of C&I energy storage solutions, engineered to accommodate varied site conditions, system layouts, and power requirements.

AC-coupled solution

Designed for businesses with existing PV inverter installations, this compact cabinet solution offers 257 kWh (two-hour) and 514 kWh (four-hour) configurations. It delivers high round-trip efficiency, supports single-phase unbalanced loads without requiring an isolation transformer, and provides lowers installation costs. The system’s liquid-cooling design enhances overall lifespan and long-term performance.

DC-coupled solution

Built for operational flexibility, this solution supports various layout options and allows for more PV capacity to achieve greater energy yield. Key features include a patented pressure-relief structure for enhanced safety and pack-level replacement to simplify maintenance. Sungrow will also introduce the modular PowerKeeper ST050CF battery series, offering scalable capacity and extended-duration storage tailored to evolving business needs.

Medium-voltage solution

For businesses with higher power demand, the PowerTitan 2.0 offers optimised discharge performance and greater efficiency. AI-driven thermal management reduces auxiliary power consumption. Factory pre-commissioning speeds up installation and system readiness. Adopting a four-layer approach to protection, including prevention, detection, suppression, and isolation, the solution incorporates comprehensive system safety.

Driving South Africa’s energy transition

In a panel discussion at the summit, Sungrow experts and industry leaders looked at technology, policy, and investment as the primary elements shaping the C&I energy storage market. Discussions covered evolving value perceptions, key challenges, and how policy can translate into actionable incentives for businesses.

Sungrow’s latest C&I solutions are developed around three core principles: economic performance, system safety, and sustainability.

The AC Block design used in various products ensures most commissioning work is completed at the factory, reducing on-site complexity and enabling faster deployment. This allows businesses to achieve earlier returns on their energy investment.

Safety is central to Sungrow’s engineering philosophy. Each system incorporates multi-layer protection, advanced monitoring, and intelligent suppression mechanisms to ensure stable performance under varying operating conditions.

Sustainability is prioritised through technologies that reduce auxiliary power usage and extend system lifespan, lowering overall lifecycle costs and environmental impact.

The company’s vision is to make clean and reliable energy accessible to businesses across South Africa. The solutions introduced at the launch summit in Johannesburg are designed to meet current power challenges and to equip companies with systems that can grow alongside their operational needs.
