The SAIW would like to collaborate with engineers and share its knowledge of welding to allow companies to leverage this skill more effectively in company operations.

Engineering welding appreciation online course

Welding can add significant value to your business bottom line. In light of this, SAIW has developed a brand new, more streamlined and relevant online Engineers Welding Appreciation Course that provides an overview of welding technology, including the complexities of welding, what can go wrong and the consequences of failure.

Professionals who might find this information particularly helpful include:

  • Workshop managers.
  • Procurement managers.
  • Plant maintenance and project engineers.
  • Engineering superintendents and technicians.
  • Senior quality assurance personnel.

For the remainder of this year, this course will run online in four separate topic sessions from 14h00 to 16h30 on the following days:

  • Monday 30 November: Welding terminology, joint types and designs
  • Tuesday 1 December: Welding processes and consumables
  • Wednesday, 2nd December: Welding defects, how to avoid them and visual inspection
  • Thursday, 3rd December: Qualification of Welding Procedures and Welder Performance testing

The course, which carries one CPD point, is available free for SAIW members and for just R1 000 for non-members.
