The branch's inception was propelled by acquiring 39 machines and maintenance contracts for the motor logistics industry. The branch also introduced a comprehensive battery bay solution, offering on-site maintenance and battery replacements. A noteworthy achievement during this period was initiating an in-house concept for constructing customised battery bays tailored for the motor logistics industry.

With a foundation laid in 1984, GLT has consistently been at the forefront of delivering best-practice solutions for industrial warehousing equipment. Renowned for its extensive range of electric and diesel-powered forklifts and exceptional after-sales service, GLT has firmly positioned itself as a dynamic forklift company providing comprehensive warehousing solutions with the lowest total cost of ownership. It is a leading supplier in the South African materials handling industry.

The East London branch has witnessed remarkable growth in its customer base, particularly in the beverage, retail, and motor logistics sectors. The dedicated support and service offered in East London have been pivotal in driving this growth.

Over the past decade, the service department at the East London branch has earned various accolades. Notably, in 2022, the branch was recognised as the Service Branch of the Year, with the additional honour of being awarded the Branch of the Year in 2018. These achievements are attributed to the implementation of ISO 9001 standards in 2017.

Operating independently, the East London branch manages its parts inventory and short-term rental fleet, providing new and pre-owned sales and an extensive service network for East London and its surrounding areas. The branch has expanded its facility three times since its inception, with a recent rebranding resulting in structural changes, including a more extensive parts department and increased stock capacity.

Having played a pivotal role in introducing DEC Tow Motors nationally, the East London branch has significantly contributed to the growth of logistics and the motor industry. Mark Rennie, the branch's General Manager, expresses gratitude for the past decade, acknowledging the achievements and growth experienced. He attributes the branch's success to the customers, community, and dedicated team, recognising their role in bringing the branch to its current position.
