Spraylock Africa has promoted Sheldon White as our new National Sales Manager.
In his new role, White will help to grow sales of unique SCP products in South Africa, one of SprayLock Concrete Protection’s many key markets outside of the United States.
As a long-standing member of Spraylock Africa’s national sales team, he has extensive experience advising our clients on the best solutions for their concrete challenges.
Before joining Spraylock Africa, White worked in quality control in the coal mining industry. This is where he started acquiring his passion for finding innovative solutions for problems associated with concrete, considering the very corrosive environment of the coal industry.
However, White admits that he learnt most of his concrete knowledge at Spraylock Africa. “Extensive innovation is involved in our product. There is nothing else like it on the market that is able to significantly reduce the permeability of concrete. Therefore, I have learnt a lot over the years when interacting with members of our own technical team and SprayLock Concrete Protection’s concrete technologists, who are always there when we need them. At the same time, I am also learning a lot from our visionary clients who are involved in the design, application and maintenance of concrete,” he says.
While cautiously optimistic about the future of the South African construction industry, he believes that there is significant potential to grow SCP’s footprint in the country. The existing concrete market will continue to be a major driver of SCP sales in the country. SCP P3 Industrial is increasingly being specified to raise the durability of existing concrete structures on mines and other industrial sites. Treating existing concrete with our unique colloidal silica post-placement pozzolan (P3) technology is a significantly more cost-effective and sustainable solution than demolishing and rebuilding concrete structures.
There is also immense scope to continue growing SCP P3 Marine sales in the coastal regions. This is considering its proven performance in safeguarding concrete exposed to the migration and diffusion of chlorides from saltwater and splash zones, among other deleterious conditions. Certainly, the focus on upgrading our port infrastructure also bodes well for SCP P3 Marine sales.
While he will oversee sales nationally, Carl White, Managing Director of Spraylock Africa, will focus on growing SCP’s markets in the rest of southern Africa, as well as Central, East, West and North Africa.
“We have a busy year ahead with exciting projects already in full swing. While gaining new clients is important to us, we will continue to ensure that we deliver the best after-sales support to our existing customers. This includes making sure that we always have stock and are able to deliver unique SCP products to their worksites on time, as well as supporting our large network of approved applicators,” White concludes.
