SAPVIA, the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association, has welcomed Pierre Nothard as Interim Chief Operating Officer as Niveshen Govender recently accepted a position outside SAPVIA.
The Board of SAPVIA has welcomed Pierre Nothard as Interim Chief Operating Officer.
Govender leaves SAPVIA after five years, having joined as a Programme Manager in 2016 before taking on the responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer in 2019.
Pierre Nothard will serve as Interim COO during this transition period.
Nothard spent 26 years in various general management positions within the Allied Electronics (Altron) Group, and one year as Managing Director of Xerox India in 2002. From 2012 to 2019, he incorporated and served as the Chairman of the South African Safehouse Association, an electrical industry organisation.
The Board of SAPVIA has started the process of recruiting a Chief Executive Officer to drive forward the association’s strategic plan supported by a fit-for-purpose structure to meet the needs of its members and the solar PV sector.
Commenting on Govender’s departure, SAPVIA Chairperson, Wido Schnabel said, “Niveshen leaves SAPVIA with the thanks and very best wishes of all the board and our members. His efforts to professionalise the association, drive value for our members and advocate on behalf of solar PV and renewables are to be commended.
"Govender’s dedication to the growth of the association, in its mission to be a trusted partner in the advancement of solar PV in South Africa, and to strengthening the value-add experienced by members, will be the hallmark of his tenure.
"The numerous networks, relationships and spaces that he created for SAPVIA to realise its mandate will continue to stand the association and its members in good stead for the next decade of our work.
"While we are sad to see him go, I have no doubt that he will continue to collaborate and work together with SAPVIA to drive the renewables agenda forward,” Schnabel said.
