The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) is gearing up for its 7th Annual WindAc Africa Conference, which will be held alongside the Windaba Conference and Exhibition from 1 to 3 October 2024 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

WindAc Africa 2024 offers the academic community and student delegates the opportunity to explore key aspects and advances in wind energy. With a view to establishing itself as Africa's premier academic wind energy conference, WindAc Africa aims to provide the leading platform for advancing knowledge about wind energy and nurturing future leaders in the field.
This year, WindAc Africa offers the opportunity for outstanding wind energy students from Southern African research institutions to benefit from its leadership sponsorship programme. By amplifying awareness of wind power supply across Africa and globally, WindAc Africa endeavours to strengthen collaboration between African universities and the wind industry.
The conference encourages students to pursue academic paths aligned with the field of wind energy and offers a vibrant forum where they can network with their peers and industry leaders. As a hub of insights and innovation, driving forward-thinking solutions to challenges facing the wind energy sector, WindAc Africa will explore various topics within the evolving energy landscape.
These will range from policy and regulatory frameworks that will drive clean energy transitions, to wind technology innovations and the development of grid capacity. The conference will also look at wind energy's role in the burgeoning African market, its potential for stimulating socio-economic growth, and strategies to ensure energy security.
Attention will also be given to confronting challenges hindering the rapid deployment of wind energy, addressing current industry issues such as logistical and project development hurdles.
Special emphasis will be placed on the localisation of wind energy endeavours and the potential of offshore wind in South Africa. The social and environmental impacts inherent in wind energy initiatives will be addressed.
Within the scope of the conference as outlined, researchers and academics in the renewable energy space are invited to submit abstracts of academic papers for consideration by no later than 8 May 2024. Full papers will be due for submission by 25 July 2024.
Through collaborative discourse and knowledge exchange, WindAc Africa 2024 aims to chart a path towards a sustainable, inclusive and resilient wind energy future for the African continent and beyond.
