Electra Mining Africa, dubbed the ‘5 in 1 Trade Show’, brings together five allied shows: Electra Mining Africa, Automation Expo, Elenex Africa, POWERex, and Transport Expo, all representing key sectors of the economy. The show will turn the spotlight on mining; manufacturing; the engineering industries; automation, instrumentation, and control; electronics, electrical and electromechanical sectors; as well as power generation, transmission and distribution, including renewable energy; plus the trucking, transport and logistics industries. The Local Southern African Manufacturing Expo is also incorporated for the first time this year, with its focus on local manufacturing.

Electra Mining Africa 2024 will see over 850 companies exhibiting across six halls and four outside areas.
The 2024 event, which will take place at Nasrec, Johannesburg from 2 to 6 September, is expected to stage one of the biggest Electra Mining Africa exhibitions to date, with over 850 companies exhibiting across six exhibition halls and four outside exhibition areas. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the latest industry innovations, in the new products and technologies on show, and live demonstrations will showcase machinery and equipment in action.
“Electra Mining Africa has built its reputation as a platform for trade, the place where buyers and sellers meet to do business. Deals are made and beneficial partnerships are formed,” says Gary Corin, Managing Director of the exhibition organiser Specialised Exhibitions, a division of Montgomery Group. “It’s a major trade event which takes place over five days and contributes to stimulating trade in the industrial, manufacturing and mining sectors of the South African economy,” Corin comments.
Alongside the exhibition, industry leaders from across the mining and other industrial sectors of the economy will deliver a programme of world-class free-to-attend seminars. Visitors can learn from industry experts about the latest developments in these sectors, globally and locally. New developments in legislation will also be highlighted and case studies will be shared presenting examples of leading technologies, solutions and methodologies implemented locally. The seminars will be hosted by the South African Institute of Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE) and seminar topics are aligned with the show’s theme days: sustainability, women’s day and skills development, safety and lifting, innovation, and South Africa day.
The Lifting Equipment Engineering Association of SA (LEEASA) and the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM) will also present conferences alongside the show. Charlene Hefer, Portfolio Director at Specialised Exhibitions highlighted that Women in Mining South Africa (WiMSA) will host a half-day Women in mining workshop, and, participating for the first time, WiMBIZ, which represents five hundred companies owned by women in the mining industry, will create a networking space where visitors and exhibitors can talk about business partnering opportunities.
Winners of the Innovation and New Products Awards, organised in partnership with the South African Capital Equipment Export Council (SACEEC), will be announced to align with Innovation Day at the show.
