SAWEA – the South African Wind Energy Association – has set the dates for its 14th Annual Windaba Conference and Exhibition. The theme for the conference this year, aligned with SAWEA’s ‘Year of the Grid’, is: ‘Break the gridlock! Wire for growth!’

A reliable and stable grid remains the backbone of South Africa’s energy future – and wind power is ready to deliver, with 33 GW of clean electrons slated to come online in the near future and 2.6 GW already in construction
The theme reflects a growing urgency, felt across the entire wind energy value chain, to overcome transmission constraints and unlock the infrastructure needed for the industry to scale up. As project momentum builds, so too must our collective focus on grid solutions, investment readiness, and inclusive growth.
Windaba 2025 promises valuable dialogue, a forum to establish strategic partnerships and generate collective momentum towards South Africa’s and Africa’s energy transition goals. The event is scheduled for 21 to 23 October 2025 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) 2.
As always, the conference will bring together key voices from industry, government, and civil society to connect, collaborate, and move the sector forward. This year’s gathering will be a call to action among all stakeholders.
