On 29 May 2015 Richard Baxter, Diesel Electric Services Sales Manager, met with Sentinel Fuel Products and the visiting Trade Mission from Ireland. During the four day trade mission, over 200 meetings were held between Irish companies and potential business partners and customers, along with five major business networking events. Diesel Electric Services distributes Irish company Sentinel Fuel Products' Oilguard9000 diesel fuel management system.
Richard of Diesel Electric Services has said "We are delighted to be partnered with Sentinel in bringing their exciting diesel monitoring solution to the South African marketplace. The Oilguard9000 solution is an excellent technology that is meeting a real need in the South African marketplace, particularly now that there is an increased requirement to use back up diesel-fuelled generators as a result of Eskom's load shedding."
The importance of careful monitoring of back-up diesel generators has become all the more evident in light of recent events where it has been reported that two lives were lost at the Letaba hospital, in Limpopo, when an understocked generator ran out of fuel. Sentinels CEO Kurt Reinhardt has said of the events "Ongoing monitoring of diesel generators is essential in mission critical environments such as hospitals. The simple addition of a fuel monitoring system, such as the Oilguard9000© which sends real time notifications when fuel reaches critical levels avoids unfortunate events such as these."
Diesel Electric Services signed a distribution agreement with Sentinel in October 2014. Good progress has been made with training Diesel Electric Services personnel in marketing, selling, installing and supporting Oilguard9000. A number of Diesel Electric Services customers have already installed the Oilguard9000 diesel fuel management solution and are in the process of rolling it out across their organisations.
