Hummingbird Resources, whose shares are quoted on AIM, has appointed Kevin Moxham as General Manager for the Yanfolila gold project in Mali.
Moxham is a professional engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the effective management and commissioning of mining projects in jurisdictions including Ghana, Eritrea, Tanzania and South Africa.
He was most recently General Manager and Head of Operations at Newmont Golden Ridge Ltd. Whilst in this role, he oversaw commissioning and production of the 9 Mt/a Akyem gold mine Ghana. Akyem was ranked the best company by the Ghana Club 100 and was ranked as the best mine in Ghana for 2014 and 2015 and the best mine in innovation and technology in 2015.
Prior to this, Moxham was Executive General Manager at Bisha Mining Share Company in Eritrea where he successfully managed the construction, commissioning and operations at the 1,8 Mt/a gold plant and the 2,4 Mt/a copper plant. He has also held several senior roles at Barrick Gold Corporation, Gold Fields, Lonmin Platinum Mines and Anglo American.
