At the South African Investment Conference 2026 (SAIC 2026) held on 31 March and hosted by President Cyril Ramaphosa, Anthem was specifically acknowledged in the President’s closing address, for the more than R10bn that has already been, or will be, directed into growing the country’s GDP, through two of its recent renewable energy and transmission infrastructure projects, the 475MWac Notsi Solar Project and the Gamma MT Substation.

Anthems renewable projects earn recognition from President Ramaphosa

The Notsi Solar Project in the Free State will create a significant number of temporary jobs during the construction phase, and approximately 120 permanent positions once operational. When completed in April 2028, it will generate enough electricity to power approximately 140,000 homes, supporting cleaner, more affordable energy and the Just Energy Transition to be channelled to private clients via our offtakers Discovery Green and NOA.

The Gamma MTS, a 400/132 kV substation, connects our three 140 MW wind projects—Umsinde, Khangela, and Ishwati—to the national grid, unlocking large-scale private wind energy supply to Sibanye-Stillwater, Rio Tinto’s Richards Bay Minerals, and NOA. Handed over to Eskom in February 2026, it demonstrates the power of public-private collaboration. Our CCO Mike Wickins and Reatile’s BEE shareholder representative, Sunette Smith, were personally thanked by the President.

Wickins said: “This recognition is for each and every member of our Anthem team, as well as our partner, Reatile, our shareholders, lenders, advisors, government and SOE stakeholders. South Africa only thrives if we work together and we wholeheartedly endorse the President’s call for redoubled investment in our beautiful country, especially at a time of such global turmoil and uncertainty. Infrastructure growth secures a path for current and future generations, and Anthem commits to building that future in a way that is sustainable, affordable and leaves nobody behind. Power with Purpose is not a slogan. It is the very core of our value system”.
