Learners at HP Williams Primary in St Helena Bay have begun lessons in a brand-new modular classroom, easing pressure on the school’s crowded facilities. The unit was manufactured and delivered by Kwikspace, Africa's provider of prefabricated buildings, and installed in just three days from delivery. The project was funded by Aurora Wind Power, under the consultancy firm S&K Consultants, as part of its community upliftment programme.

Aurora Wind Power brings Kwikspace classroom to St Helena Bay school

Partnering for education

Aurora Wind Power allocates a percentage of its turnover to local community upliftment in the West Coast region. Working with S&K Consultants, the company identified HP Williams Primary as a school in urgent need of support. Rising enrolment numbers had left classrooms overcrowded, and additional space was required.

To address this challenge, Aurora funded the donation and selected Kwikspace to supply the new classroom. This was the first collaboration between Kwikspace, Aurora Wind Power, and S&K Consultants, bringing together their efforts to deliver a practical solution for the school.

Built in weeks, ready in days

Kwikspace manufactured the 7 m double-wide classroom at its Cape Town factory in four weeks. Delivered on 21 July and installed by 23 July, the classroom was operational in a matter of days and has been allocated to a Grade 6 class.

The unit measures 7x7 m, accommodates around 30 learners, and includes a veranda, blinds, and perimeter mesh. Fully insulated and designed for a lifespan of more than 20 years, it provides a safe, durable space for teaching and learning.

Kwikspace’s scope of work included supply and installation, with the school connecting the electrics to the external supply. Delivery was carried out using Kwikspace’s third-party transporter.

A welcome relief for teachers

The additional classroom has eased pressure on the school’s facilities and given staff the capacity to manage growing enrolments more effectively. The principal has welcomed the project with gratitude and enthusiasm, noting the difference it will make for both learners and teachers.

Aurora Wind Power has emphasised its focus on empowering communities through education, while Kwikspace added, “Education is the cornerstone of society, and by supporting younger generations in the classroom, we help build a brighter future.”

Building stronger communities together

This project highlights how modular construction can deliver timely, practical solutions for essential infrastructure, from classrooms to clinics, housing and workplace facilities. Kwikspace acknowledges Aurora Wind Power and S&K Consultants for sponsoring the project and looks forward to supporting more schools and communities across South Africa.
