Crabtree, a leader in electrical infrastructure, has a multi-factory approach to business that has been a success story since operations commenced in 2007. While it is not uncommon for one company to have separate factories, what sets Crabtree’s arrangement apart from others is that the headquarters are in Wadeville, Johannesburg, while the second factory is some 430km away in Lesotho. “The factory is situated about 2km from the Maseru bridge in Lesotho’s capital city Maseru,” explains Michael Daniels, Factory Manager of Crabtree’s Lesotho facility. “On average, we employ 250 people in the factory, of which 97% are skilled Basotho citizens.”
