Growatt, a global leader in distributed solar and energy storage solutions, officially announces the launch of APX HV Battery 2.0, a next-generation high-voltage battery system for residential and small C&I applications. This upgraded system offers increased resilience in performance, safety, and scalability, setting a new standard for smart energy storage.
The APX HV Battery 2.0 is designed for Europe’s rapidly evolving energy storage market, supporting a wide range of applications, from maximising self-consumption and providing dependable backup power to enabling future-ready, battery-first energy systems. Building on the proven success of the first-generation APX Battery, this new version pushes the platform even further. It introduces significant upgrades in ease of installation, operational flexibility, and long-term dependability.
Modular High-Voltage Battery Storage for Flexible Solar Energy Systems
Designed to suit various system needs, the APX HV Battery 2.0 (APX 5.0–30.0M-S3) provides a flexible capacity from 5 kWh to 30 kWh, with further capacity options anticipated for future releases. Its true scalability is achieved through a modular design, supporting up to six battery modules on a single unified base.
The system introduces a new level of flexibility that surpasses traditional battery designs. Existing APX users can freely combine new and previous-generation battery modules within one system, safeguarding prior investments. The platform also supports mixed state-of-charge (SOC) operation, module-level energy optimisation, and a unified master module compatible with both single-phase and three-phase systems, providing unmatched adaptability across applications.
Installer-Friendly Plug-and-Play HV Battery Storage
Installer experience was a key focus during the development of APX HV Battery 2.0. With ongoing input from partners and installers, Growatt’s R&D team greatly improved installation efficiency and precision.
Featuring a stacked, cable-free design, the system allows true plug-and-play installation. Integrated carrying handles and a compact footprint further make on-site handling, deployment, and commissioning easier. The outcome is faster installation, fewer errors, and less troubleshooting, helping installers deliver projects more confidently and efficiently. When paired with Growatt MOD-HU Series hybrid inverters (with more compatible inverter options coming soon), APX HV Battery 2.0 offers a distinct advantage in simplified, system-level commissioning.
IP66-Rated LFP Battery for Extreme Temperatures
Reliability is demonstrated in the toughest conditions. APX HV Battery 2.0 uses ultra-safe LFP (LiFePO₄) chemistry, combined with IP66-rated protection and a wide operating temperature range of –20°C to 55°C, ensuring consistent, year-round performance in various environments.
Safety is enhanced through module-level aerosol fire suppression and an integrated heating film, ensuring reliable operation even in extremely cold conditions. This multi-layer safety design highlights Growatt’s long-term dedication to secure, durable, and resilient energy storage solutions.
Driving the Next Stage of Energy Storage
“Energy storage today demands higher safety, greater flexibility, and stronger adaptability as global energy systems evolve,” said David Ding, CEO of Growatt. “With APX HV Battery 2.0, we’ve taken a significant step forward in Europe, delivering a solution designed not only for today’s needs, but for the energy systems of tomorrow.”
APX HV Battery 2.0 demonstrates Growatt’s ongoing leadership in effective energy storage innovation. As households and businesses speed up the shift towards clean, decentralised energy, Growatt remains dedicated to providing intelligent, dependable solutions that support a more resilient and sustainable future.
