WITH its newTermseries interface adaptor,
Weidmüller is offering a compact solution for
faster signal wiring, as the interface adaptor for
Termseries relays shortens wiring times thanks
to plug-and-play. Pre-assembled lines are simply
connected to theTermseries interface adaptor
between the I/O cards of the control and interface
level.The pre-assembled plug-and-play solution
with theTermseries interface adaptor reduces the
amount of wiring required, thus also shortening
throughput times in electrical cabinets.

Compact solution for faster signal wiring
The new interface adaptors for Termseries offer compact
solutions for faster signal wiring and shorten the wiring time
thanks to plug-and-play.
The auxiliary voltage can be quickly and safely fed in thanks to
the TOP connection with ‘push-in’ technology. Duplicate con-
nections guarantee simple bridging.
shapedTermseries products, the interface adap-
tor offers a considerable space saving thanks to
its universal fit. Its symmetrical structure means
that it can be plugged onto coils, just as it would
on the Termseries contact connections. Its new
contact systemguarantees permanent contact
at all times, even in the event of vibrations. A
potential changeover switch for the lower level
allows for trouble-free use of both positive- and
negative-switching logic in a single device.
There are four interface adaptor variants
available: TIA F10, TIA SUBD 15S, TIAL F10 and
TIAL F20. All four versions are suitable for input
and output logic. Termseries interface adaptors
can also be combined with u-remote, Weidmül-
ler’s remote I/O system, whether connecting
u-remote DO sub-assemblies using form-fit cable
sets or for Termseries relays.
Cabinets needing a great deal of wiring
represent a major challenge for cabinet build-
ers, which is why an equal amount of wiring is
required for standardised series cabinets inma-
chine construction, plant manufacture, process
control engineering and shipbuilding. The new
Termseries interface adaptor from
Weidmüller guarantees rapid cabi-
net equipment, offering a compact
solution for faster signal wiring.
Generally speaking, more wiring
translates into a longer throughput
time in electrical cabinets. Thanks
to plug-and-play, the interface
adaptor for Termseries relays short-
ens both the wiring times and the
throughput times. To this end, the
user inserts pre-assembled lines
between the I/O cards of the con-
trol and interface level and simply
connects them to the Termseries
interface adaptor.
With its universal fit, the interface adaptor cuts
an impressive figure when used together with
the identically shapedTermseries products.
Thanks to its symmetrical design, the inter-
face adaptor can be plugged onto both the
Termseries’coil connections and its contact
connections.
The interface adaptor’s new contact system
creates a spring-loaded effect, thus guarantee-
ing permanent contact at all times – even in the
event of vibrations. Furthermore, the adaptor
visually and audibly snaps into place, providing
the user with feedback and indicating that the
adaptor is perfectly fixed into the relay block.
The new interface adaptor allows for connec-
tion to a multitude of I/O cards. Standardised
ribbon cable plug-in connections mean that
pre-assembled cable types from theWeidmüller
Interface system can be connected.
The auxiliary voltage can be quickly and safely
fed in thanks to the TOP connection with‘push
in’technology. Duplicate connections guarantee
simple bridging and users can utilise positive-
and negative-switching logic in a single device.
With the potential changeover switch for the
lower level, the interface adaptor can be used for
positive- and negative-switching logic.

POWER solutions and data
centre specialist, Master Power
Technologies, has recently
invested resources in Zambia
in order to better service its
local sites.
“Having identified a need
tomeet the ever increasing
demand for power solutions
and data centres in the region,
the decision to invest in a full
time direct presence was easy”,
says Neill Schreiber, sales and
marketingmanager at Master
Power Technologies.
The Zambian team is
headed by Charlie Marshall
(regional manager, Zambia).
Currently there are offices in
Kitwe and Lusaka to ensure
timeous technical support to
the local customer base.
“The reaction to our direct
presence here has been
overwhelming. We are con-
necting with our customers
on the ground”says Marshall.
“We believe the investment
in the region is paying huge
dividends and sending a mes-
sage that we are serious about
doing business in this region.”
“The offices were set up in
January and plans are under
way to increase our presence
here, to include warehousing
of products and spares as we
see Zambia as a springboard
to the rest of Africa,”explains
Schreiber, adding,“We also
envisage opening upmore of-
fices in Africa to enable other
parts of the region to benefit
fromour quality products and
technical expertise.”

Power solutions company
opens office in Zambia
THE ZestWEG Group has successfully
manufactured, delivered, installed and
commissioned its first locally manufac-
tured new generation CF11-Mmodular
Variable Speed Drive (VSD).
The 750 kW, 1 600A normal duty, 380
Vmodular VSDwas supplied toWeir
Minerals Africa, together with three mo-
tors – 750 kW, 400 kW and 110 kW – for
use within its state-of-the-art in-house
pump test facility at Isando.
Modular VSDs were previously as-
sembled into enclosures by ZestWEG
Group’s holding company, WEG, in Brazil
and imported to the Africanmarket as a
complete product. However, ZestWEG
Group company, Shaw Controls has de-
veloped an enclosure to suit the South
Africanmarket and is able to assemble
modular VSDs into locally manufactured
enclosures. This makes it possible for the
steelwork to be fabricated to local re-
quirements, such as allowing sufficient
space for power terminations.
“The addition of locally manufac-
tured CF11-Mmodular VSDs to our
product range has benefitedWeir
Minerals Africa in terms of a lower cost,
WEG AFW11Mmodular VSD connected to a WEG 330 kWmotor at Weir Minerals Africa.
First locally manufactured CF11-Mmodular VSD supplied
customdesign and a manufacturing
period reduced from 12 to six weeks,”
Johan van Niekerk, ZestWEG Group
manager for automation, says.“The
multi-disciplinary resources within the
ZestWEG Group also reduce the risk to
the customer who is, in effect, dealing
with one organisation and one point of
contact.
“Although the VSD technology came
fromWEG Brazil, the contract was
executed locally by ZestWEG Group’s
drives and automation specialists, who
performed the customdesign, testing
and commissioning. Shaw Controls
manufactured the enclosure and as-
sembled the modular VSD, while EnI
Electrical, another ZestWEG Group
company, performed the site installa-
tion and cabling of the modular VSD to
Weir Minerals Africa’s
supply and pump
test rig. The ZestWEG
Group stocks compo-
nents for the modular
VSD at its Johan-
nesburg warehouse
to further reduce the
manufacturing period.
WEGVariable Speed Drives
The CFW11 modular VSD incorporates
world leading technology for control
of three -phase inductionmotors. The
systemwas developed based on plug-
and-play philosophy, allowing simple
and fast installation of the VSD and its
accessories. The keypad has a naviga-
tion and programming system similar to
mobile phones, with soft-key buttons.
The CFW11-Mmodular VSD com-
prises complete cubicle modules and
switchgear assembled in a robust steel
enclosure. The main design components
are the control unit, rectifier module and
power modules (inverter). The modular
VSD features the new generation ofWEG
CFW11 frequency inverters for ratings
ranging from 370 kW to 2 000 kW, with
line voltages from 380 V to 690 V. The
compact power modules can be con-
figured to achieve the requiredmotor
power ratings using a combination of up
to five power modules.
Its IGBT overload protection feature
monitors junction temperature (via
thermal imaging) and has built-in pro-
tections and alarms.
