However, the Meteor, the Comet and the Supernova all start out with standard specifications for varying purposes.
For example, all the aforementioned light fittings are made using the McCree Action Spectrum as a baseline for imitating natural sunlight. The companies also include LEDs in the far red spectrum which has known benefits for the growth cycle of cannabis.
The Meteor is best suited for supplemental lighting in greenhouse grows and, because of the design of the LED board and the nature of LEDs themselves, the light fitting can replace 1000 W and higher of HID sources without the risk of over-heating and possibly burning the plants. This saves on cooling costs as well as lowering your electric bill. Also, because of the size of the light, the ‘shadow’ is minimised.
For an indoor grow, Giantlight and Indorsun would recommend the Comet. It comes in lengths of 1 m or 2 m and has a modular system that allows you to add or remove units to achieve your desired/ required PAR levels from set heights within a custom sized area where the Comet is the only source of light.
If you have a larger scale indoor grow, the Comet has been adapted into the third light experts from the two companies would recommend, for such scale and the purpose, which is the Supernova. The Supernova is essentially the upscaled Comet, consisting of six Comets, attached in a 1 m x 1m square that hinges in the middle for ease of movement and mounting.
Unlike the Meteor, the Supernova and the Comet, with their power supplies, could create a bigger shadow if they were to be used in an area such a greenhouse; this is another reason why they are more suited to indoor grows.
