T
ega Industries in South Africa
can trace its history back to the
establishment of Beruc Equip-
ment in 1984, an industrial
rubber manufacturing company that
became a local agent for Tega products
designed in India. A controlling share of
Beruc (Benoni Rubber Company) was
acquired by Tega Industries in 2006
to provide a manufacturing presence
on the African continent for the global
Tega Group in the mining and industrial
sectors.
In 2011, Tega’s Indian parent
bought the remaining shares in Beruc
Equipment and changed the company’s
name to Tega Industries South Africa.
“Tega Industries SA is now wholly owned
by Tega Industries of India, which was
itself set up as a local rubber lining
manufacturing plant for a Scandinavian
OEM,” relates Vermaak. “Tega Industries
India was formed when the then manag-
ing director bought the plant and created
the new brand. Today, Tega operates
in 72 sites throughout the world and
has manufacturing facilities across the
globe,” Vermaak tells
MechTech
.
The South African company operates
two divisions, mining and industrial.
“A substantial amount of our busi-
ness involves rubber mill linings sold
through our mining division,” continues
Vermaak. “We design, manufacture and
install a wide range of rubber linings for
use in grinding mills and processing
plants in the diamond, chrome, gold,
platinum and manganese mining sec-
tors,” he adds.
Tega mill linings provide “optimal
grinding solutions” in major mineral
processing plants all over the world
Tega Industries South Africa is currently upgrading the manufacturing facilities
on its new 45 000 m

site in Vulcania, Brakpan. Its industrial division has
already moved and the mining division is set to follow in April.

aftermarket solutions and Tega’s just-in-time manufacturing philosophy.

Tega’s industrial division has already moved into new premises in Vulcania, Brakpan, and the mining
division will be moving in the first quarter of this year.
SA’s engineered rubber products manufacturer
and are a preferred lining system for
secondary ball mills, regrind mills, rod
mills and scrubbers. Also offered are
reinforced lifters that have an integrated
(vulcanised) aluminium channel to
accommodate the fixing clamp and
non-reinforced Tega lifter bars that are
installed with detachable steel clamps
that can slide inside the groove on
the lifter base for bolting onto the mill
shell – and Tega lining bolt attachment
systems are compatible with all conven-
tional attachment systems for rubber
lining used in grinding mills.
The industrial division manufactures
products ranging from application spe-
cific mouldings, diaphragms, springs,
bellows, special seals and vibration
mountings, to heat exchanger gaskets,
cable protectors and bucket conveyor
cleats.
“We manufacture the shock sub-
assemblies for underground mining
drilling rigs, for example, a custom-
designed rubber buffering system to
prevent the drill rig from destroying
itself or the foundations of the stope.
We are currently also involved in sup-
plying furnace seals for Outokumpu, the
stainless steel specialist. These were
being imported from Australia, but our
tests are looking good and we antici-
pate manufacturing a large amount of
these specialised seals per year – from
