HPE Africa has unveiled the new Hyundai R215 crawler excavators, setting a new benchmark for efficiency, productivity, and safety in demanding working conditions. Launched in October 2023, these excavators come with a host of 'best in class' features that promise to redefine the earthmoving industry.
Ross Collard, Managing Director of HPE Africa, highlights the key advantages of the Hyundai R215 series, emphasizing their reinforced undercarriage for added stability, advanced ECO operating mode for improved fuel efficiency and profitability, and enhanced safety features for on-site operations. Collard notes that Hyundai is committed to continuous improvement, focusing on performance, quality, precision, versatility, and maintenance simplicity.
The excavators have undergone rigorous field testing in tough conditions, showcasing impressive performance metrics, such as excellent digging forces, higher maneuverability, and improved fuel efficiency. The operator cab has been completely redesigned to provide more space, better visibility, and easy-to-use controls, ensuring a comfortable and safe working environment for operators. A large LCD monitor allows operators to choose between different modes and monitor the machine's condition, reducing downtime through self-diagnostic systems.
Maintenance procedures have been made more accessible, ensuring quicker routine checks. The more efficient cooling system extends service intervals, reduces downtime, and minimizes operating costs.
The Hyundai R215 series boasts an impressive Gross Power of 140 HP @ 2,000 rpm and an operating weight of 21,700 kg. It features a variable displacement axial piston type pump with electro-hydraulic control for precise flow management to meet operating requirements. The 6-cylinder, direct injection turbocharged engine is designed for durability in challenging environmental conditions without compromising productivity.
To enhance fuel efficiency, the series includes an advanced CAPO system, newly designed CMCU, and a fuel-saving kit that monitors loads and optimizes fuel consumption. An auto-idle function and one-touch deceleration switch prevent fuel loss during no-load conditions. The auto-piloted swing priority increases hydraulic oil flow, resulting in greater productivity.
Structural features focused on durability include high-tensile steel components, steel bearings, and baffle plates to maximize impact strength. The excavator's structural integrity is further bolstered by a new forged ring body in the lower frame. Safety features include an automatic engine overheat prevention system, counter-balance valve, holding valve, and an anti-restart system.
HPE Africa recommends the use of Hyundai genuine parts and lubricants to ensure peak performance, reliability, and safety. The company's range includes various Hyundai construction equipment and complementary attachments, all supported by a skilled technical service and after-sales team throughout Southern Africa.
The Hyundai R215 crawler excavators are poised to become industry leaders with their impressive features and commitment to efficiency, safety, and durability in challenging work environments.
