TruckStore, a division of Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA), today announced the opening of its new West Rand facility, reaffirming its long-term commitment to the Southern African used-truck market.

With revenues expected to grow from roughly R103.6 billion (USD 6.3b) in 2023 to over R328.9 billion (USD 20b) by 2030, South Africa’s cold chain market is growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of between 18% and 20%.

South African Bulk Terminals (SABT), a business unit of BidFreight, has installed a 140m opposing Energy Chain system from igus to improve the management of cables used in the operation of two of its massive ship loaders.

“Sales by Hino and the other Japanese truck manufacturers are showing more resilience than their European counterparts in a global automotive industry that is in greater turmoil now than ever in its 150-year history,” says Anton Falck, Vice President of Hino South Africa. He was speaking at a media briefing at the Nampo agricultural show at Bothaville on May 11.

According to Malcolm Curror, chief executive of United Manganese of Kalahari (UMK), the South African resources sector is anticipated to experience significant growth following global disruptions, as large-scale reconstruction efforts will require substantial quantities of natural resources, including manganese and other steelmaking inputs.
