Caterpillar Inc. unveiled its latest addition to the track loader family, the Cat® 973.

New Cat 973 completes Caterpillars track loader lineup

The Cat 973 joins the esteemed ranks of its predecessors, the 953 and 963, solidifying its position as a leader in the track loader market.

Weighing in at 29 892 kg and boasting a robust 275 hp (205 kW) engine, the Cat 973 represents the industry's pinnacle of power and agility.

Despite its imposing size, operators can expect unparalleled ease of operation thanks to its updated cab design, featuring a suspension seat and adjustable armrests/controls. The intuitive 10-inch (254 mm) touchscreen dash display, complete with a high-definition rearview camera, further enhances the operator's experience, making truck loading a breeze with features like Slope Indicate, which provides real-time slope information directly on the display.

The Cat 973 offers multiple steering control options, including joystick or V-lever and pedal steering for transmission controls, catering to the preferences of different operators. Furthermore, preset functions for repetitive tasks like lifting and dumping, coupled with smoother implement and steering responses, allow operators to enjoy improved controllability and efficiency.

Under the hood, the Cat 973 is powered by a robust Cat C9.3B engine, offering ample power and up to a 10 per cent reduction in fuel consumption with features like Auto Mode and Eco Mode, optimising performance for varying workloads. Optional enhancements such as the Performance Series bucket and Fusion™ Quick Coupler further elevate productivity by enabling rapid attachment changes and boosting load capacities.

Moreover, incorporating Cat Payload technology ensures precise load information, facilitating more accurate loading and reducing cycle times, ultimately translating to time, labour, and fuel costs savings. Caterpillar's commitment to efficiency extends beyond the machine itself, integrating Cat Equipment Management telematics technology, enabling seamless data collection and management for enhanced operational oversight and control.
